For FFA Members

If you’re looking to begin your career immediately following your high school graduation or soon after, this program is a great fit for you! Through Ohio FFA Works, you’ll be applying for multiple employment opportunities with just one application.

About the Process

After creating or updating your resume and cover letter, fill out the online application between January 1, 2025 and March 14, 2025. Be sure to select all the counties you’re willing to work in – the more counties you select, the more employment opportunities you’ll be opening yourself up to. (Think about where you’ll be living and where you can drive.)

After you apply, be sure to remind your FFA advisor to fill out the advisor recommendation form online. They will receive this in their email inbox.

As early as March 21, 2025, you may begin to hear directly from the companies that would like to interview you. Since they’ll be contacting you, be sure to answer your phone and have a professional and appropriate voicemail set up. Also, make sure you’re checking your email regularly, including your spam folder. Unfortunately, we can’t promise that every member who applies will receive an interview.

If you are offered and accept a position, you’ll be recognized on stage at the Ohio FFA Convention. Then, you’ll work directly with your new employer to figure out additional logistics about your new job.

You can find all the participating Ohio FFA Works partners below. Some partners are offering multiple types of positions and some are hiring multiple members for the same type of position. Be sure to research each company to learn more.

Tips for Success

Showcase your skills and experiences on your resume and cover letter.

Your resume and cover letter are your biggest opportunities to show potential employers what you bring to their company. It’s a great idea to highlight any leadership experience you’ve had through FFA (i.e. being a chapter officer, attending conferences, and/or achievements) and how that has helped prepare you to be a great employee. You should also include past work experience and what responsibilities you had. Be sure to include any special skills you’ve developed, too. (driving equipment, handling livestock, certifications, etc.)

Prepare for your interview by practicing some questions.

During your interview, the company will want to learn more about you and how you’ll be a great addition to their team. Before your interview practice some potential questions so that you’re prepared. The best answers often include examples of a time you’ve done this in the past. For example, if they ask about a time you were responsible for a project, you could share about helping to plan your chapter banquet or a time you had a large responsibility at work. A few interview questions might be:

  • Tell us about yourself.

  • Tell us about a time you had to learn how to do something new. How did you go about that?

  • What are your strengths?

  • Why should we hire you for this position?

  • How would a boss or teacher describe you?

Dress appropriately for your interview.

Wear something nicer than jeans to help show you’re serious about this opportunity. Consider dress pants (i.e. khaki or black pants) and a button up, polo shirt or blouse. If you have a blazer, you’re welcome to wear it. It’s probably best to leave your hat at home.

Ask good questions during the interview.

Your job interview is also an opportunity for you to learn more about the company to see if you will like working there. Take some time before your interview to write down some questions you’d like to ask. Some good questions might be:

  • What does a typical day in this role look like?

  • What could I do in the first year of working here that would make you really glad you hired me?

  • Are there opportunities for long-term advancement within this company?

  • Are there any traits you’re looking for in an employee that I haven’t had the opportunity to discuss yet?

Practice makes perfect.

These certainly aren’t the only ways to be successful and stand out in an interview. Be sure to talk with some mentors (parents, grandparents, FFA advisor, boss, teachers, and others) and look at some resources online to help further prepare you for the next steps.
